Butch Taylor & the Penetrators: Releases debut CD, “Don’t tell me Nothin’”

Butch Taylor and the Penetrators are releasing their debut CD, "Don’t tell me Nothin’" in March 2000.  The music of Butch Taylor & the Penetrators combines many elements of music from Blues, Funk, and Rock to Jazz and R & B.  This CD contains a killer compilation of music that “will bring out the dog in you.”  Although various configurations of the band have played around Connecticut clubs for a few years now, the new line-up is a ten piece band focused on delivering the high energy original sound of the CD in live performance.

REVIEW:

“The opening acoustical guitar work on "Conjure Man" blew me away. I could tell that I was in for a ride and I took one. Why hasn't the public been notified that this kind of Rock and Roll is available for every music lover? I can't use the word blues for any of this band's fine music because it doesn't fit into the traditional category of blues. Basically, there is much more energy. There is a great blend of keyboards and guitar that allows for ample space to build power for the listener. Butch is a clean soulful singer and plays enough unique guitar licks to please even the fussiest of guitar fanatics.”

REVIEWS:

“Rip It Up!  Butch Taylor will knock your socks off.  No stranger to the music biz, Taylor has quite a repertoire - from Don Kirshners Rock Concert and the Midnight Special to the Bottom Line and Carnegie Hall and a bunch of stuff in-between.  Like what?  Like touring and recording with artists on RCA, Arista, and Epic; recording music for film and video; like securing a gig in the semi-final  competition for a slot on-stage at the 1998 Guiness Fleadh ... Petty impressive, I’d say.  Then again, it’s no wonder. Butch Taylor and the Penetrators know how to rip it up - a talent inherent in their blues, psychedelic, funk-rock roots.”  - Terri Lagerstedt  (Fairfield County Weekly)

“BUTCH TAYLOR & the PENETRATORS are a rock blues outfit from southern CT.  I caught the band recently and they were getting the blues through to an attentive crowd at Cafe 9. ...They draw on some Willie Dixon and Robert Johnson material and also get funky with some Hendrix and SRV.  One thing I really liked about them is when they played Willie Dixon or Muddy they didnt't try to "rock it up".  They laid down a great blues groove, and Butch is a soulful singer.  Too many bands these days just yell out the vocals and go on a guitar extavaganza, not Butch.  He wasn't afaid to bring the band way down and sing a great soul ballad.  The flip side to this high energy band is the Hendrix tunes and even some Sly & the Family Stone grooves.  Tasty wah wah on Little Wing and some poppin' fresh funk bottom by Wendy on bass made this a versatile night of blues rock that had purists and rock fans calling for more.  If they penetrate a club near you, check them out you won't be disappointed.”
